Rules
The May 2026 VFS adult re-issue checklist for the United States asks for two identical photos, 35×45 mm, white background, without glasses, shoulders visible, no flash reflection, and compliant with ICAO. One print goes on the government form and one on the change-of-appearance form. The photo should be less than 6 months old.
A search excerpt of an older fresh-passport checklist says 51×51 mm. That PDF was not the May 2026 re-issue list, so this file uses 35×45 mm.
You still upload a photo on the Government of India passport portal. The checklist does not publish that upload’s pixel size or byte cap.
Do
- Print two identical 35×45 mm photos.
- Wear a coloured shirt that stands off the white background.
- Keep both shoulders in frame.
Don't
- Do not wear glasses.
- Do not use the older 51×51 mm size for this re-issue list.
- Do not add a flash reflection on the face.
